Bangkok, Thailand – July 31, 2025 – In a significant development, the Criminal Court today sentenced Ms. Seping Chaiyasan to four years in prison without suspension for fraud and violations of the Computer Crimes Act. The verdict stems from the highly publicized "Face Off" fraud case, where Seping and her team were accused of deceiving the public with false claims about cosmetic surgery procedures.
Seping has posted bail and is currently awaiting appeal.
The ruling was delivered at the Criminal Court on Ratchadaphisek Road in Case No. A.766/2019. The charges against Seping and her co-defendants, which included her management team and a well-known cosmetic surgery hospital, were joint fraud, entering false information into a computer system, and advertising with false or exaggerated content.
The Deceptive "Face Off" Project
According to the plaintiff, Ms. Yupin, the defendants operated the "Face Off" project between August 2017 and August 2018. They allegedly provided consultations and procured surgical services under false pretenses, leading the public to believe they would achieve flawless results with "no scars and little or no swelling or bruising" if they underwent procedures at their "world-class hospitals."
Ms. Yupin, swayed by these claims, paid 368,500 baht for a facelift surgery. However, the outcome was far from what was promised. She suffered "ugly scars, numbness, pain, itching, and distortion" due to breaking threads within her face, along with disfigurement and elongated, pointed ears.
Court Upholds Charges
Initially, the complaint named Ms. Seping, her management team, and a cosmetic surgery hospital as defendants. However, in a preliminary hearing, the court ordered the indictment solely against Ms. Seping, the first defendant.
Today, Ms. Seping and the plaintiff's lawyer, Mr. Phinyophat Chittawan, were present in court for the verdict.
The Criminal Court found Ms. Seping guilty as charged, citing defrauding the public, violations of the Computer Crimes Act Section 14, and Consumer Protection Act Sections 22 and 47. The court handed down a four-year prison sentence, applying the highest penalty for these combined offenses.
Reporters noted that Ms. Seping has a history of similar convictions, having been sentenced to prison in several other cases related to the "Face Off" project.
